Moreau and the surrounding area

Moreau is a charming hamlet of seven houses in peaceful countryside, two kilometres from the village of Cercoux which has two boulangeries, a pharmacy, a friendly village shop and a bar with restaurant that serves good value meals at lunchtime.
There are also excellent tennis courts available to hire.

The beautiful countryside surrounding Moreau is typical of the Haute Saintonge, the name given to this most southern part of the Charente Maritime, with pine forests, hay meadows, vineyards and sunflowers. 
There are quiet walks and tracks to explore and fascinating wildlife to discover.

Montguyon is the nearest small town (ten minutes drive) with supermarkets, shops, banks, etc... Just outside the town, at Beauvallon, surrounded by pine forests is a beautiful swimming lake with beach and café. Twenty minutes away on the river Dronne is the pretty town of Coutras, with excellent shops and good restaurants.

The traditional markets on Wednesday and Saturdays are full of colour and all types of local produce.
